•           Players NOT wearing protective soccer headgear are 2.65 times more likely to suffer a concussion than those who did wear headgear. It was truly a team effort over the two weekends with explosive offense, stifling defense and great passing and possession. Over the 5 game stretch the team dominated the field notching 20 goals while allowing only 1 goal. During the tournament, 8 different CVSC Blue players scored, 3 different keepers were utilized and the amazing defenders played virtually every one of the 375 tournament minutes.

FIRST KICKERS

Junior Soccer Training Program

 

 



 

The First Kickers Soccer Program was created to the teach skills and techniques that are necessary to play the game of soccer. There is an age appropriate and developmental aspect to this Program which encourages learning through technical demonstration and movement in a positive & fun learning environment. The purpose of the Program is to develop a player technically, while building confidence and motivation, regardless of the ability level.  Training is conducted outdoors, as weather permits.  

 

 

First Kickers I - (Age 5-7)

 

Duration:  30-45 minutes

This basic, beginning program includes teaching and encouraging the imitation of:

·       Ball mastery

o   Control

o   Coordination

o   Agility

·       Footwork and coordination

·       Short passing and beginning finishing

·       Dribbling moves

·       Age appropriate Drills/Fun Games to utilize basic techniques that are being taught


 

First Kickers II (Ages 7-9)

 

Duration:  40-50 minutes

The next level program continues to expand and refine learning the technical aspects of soccer including:

·       Footwork

·       Agility

·       Passing and Finishing

·       Dribbling

·       Changes of Direction/Movement

·       Receiving the Ball and Ball Control

·       Age appropriate Drills/Games which transition into small-sided soccer games

 First Kickers I:     Born between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2007

  First Kickers II:    Born between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2005

 

Dates:         Saturday mornings, beginning on January 28, 2012 for 10 Sessions

 

Times:         First Kickers I –   9:00 am to 9:45 am

                    First Kickers II – 10:00 am to 10:50 am

 

Location:     Crescenta Valley High School, Varsity Soccer Field

Cost:            $125 for 10 Sessions

***Includes: Crescenta Valley SC Nike Jersey, Shorts and Socks

CVSC Boys U12 bring home the cup from Vegas

On Martin Luther King weekend, the Crescenta Valley Boys u12 (99-00) team traveled to Las Vegas for the Vegas Cup 2012. In 2011, the CVSC boys reached the tournament championship game only to fall short 3-1 to FC Dallas. This year, the team’s goal was to not only make the championship game again, but to return home as champions.

On Saturday, their opening game was played against the tournament’s host team,

LV PREMIER SC 00B BLACK (NV). The game started as a very close and tight encounter, but in the second half CV went on a goal scoring spree and won 4-0. On Sunday, CV’s high scoring offense continued to impress as the team beat CARLSBAD WAVE BLACK (CAS) 4-2 and clinched 1st in their group by beating DVYSL VEGAS UNITED LIMON 00 (NV) 6-3. SAN DIEGO SC SDSC 99 NAVY (MITCHELL) (CAS). After a physical first half, both teams put away scoring chances but CV led at the break, 2-1. A relentless defensive effort helped create numerous second half scoring opportunities for CV. The opportunities quickly turned into goals and CV booked their ticket for Championship game winning 6-1. STRIKERS FC - SOUTH COAST (CAS) and the Coast Soccer League’s Silver East Champions Crescenta Valley. STRIKERS FC - SOUTH COAST (CAS) had an excellent start and controlled the tempo early on. It was fitting that CV’s leading goal scorer for the tournament, Eduardo Chaires, helped put CV ahead with a beautiful goal by dribbling the goalkeeper and touching it into an empty net. CV led at half 1-0. The second half was similar to the rest of the tournament, CV’s high power offense kicked in and scored 3 second half goals led by Eduardo Chaires championship game hat trick. CV won 4-0.

Their Semi Final game was against

The Championship game was a matchup between the Southern California Development Soccer League’s Flight 2 champions,

CVSC GU19 Takes Home the Cup in Riverside
 
On Labor Day weekend, CVSC’s new GU19 team traveled to Riverside for one last tune up before the regular season. What started as a few warm up games soon turned into a battle for the Raincross Cup Championship. Winning their first game of the weekend, and then pulling off a late tie in the second, gave Coach Randy Lilavois’ team the crucial points they needed to get into the finals. However, they would have to get through hosts AC MILAN of Riverside in order to get there.
After an intense game, third of the weekend, both teams battled to another tie. Though nothing was settled, the match gave each team the points they needed to get into the finals for a rematch. This time, a winner would be crowned, in regular time or an eventual PK shootout!
CVSC forward Taylor Gore, who led the offense all weekend, would make sure that PK’s were not needed. In the second half, she pressured the Milan goalkeeper, collected a mishit clearance, and found that back of the net for the 1-0 victory. Giving her team the championship!!
CVSC was led all weekend by the play of it’s captains, midfielder Mea Zuiderveen, and defender Ashley Aquino. Both played at an intense pace in front of their goalkeepers Ashley Hermosillo and Samantha Lizer who also put in tremendous performances. The GU19’s were also lifted by the play of new additions Bridget Talley, Jackie Phinney, and Jennifer Mendez, as well as team veterans Jennifer Suh and Mackenzie Winslow.
An incredible team performance has hopefully set the stage for a great season. Well done ladies!!!

To prepare for their league season, they attended the OC Kick Off Cup held in Irvine. CV was placed in Flight 2, with all silver level teams. Their first game was against Canyon FC Blue, who beat CV 4-2 in the opening match. Their next game was against MB Sand and Surf, and CV was victorious with a 4-3 win. To have a chance at the final, CV had to win their last pool play match against Pacific SC Newport Lions. CV came out flying with early goals and cruised to a 5-1 win. CV advanced to the final to play against Santa Anita SC, who remained unbeaten in the tournament. CV’s quick start and early goals continued. After a long hard fought game, CV walked off the field with a 3-0 win and the OC Kick Off Champions! Great Job CV, we are proud of you!

Crescenta Valley Soccer Club (CVSC) continues in its great tradition, as it has another successful season producing college bound student athletes.  On Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 7pm at the AlexTheatre, in Glendale CA., Crescenta Valley Soccer Club celebrated those student athletes as the Club held its annual College National Letter of Intent Signing Night.  This year, the Club honored ten players:   Jordan Royer, Taryn Lathrop, Nikki Campbell, Alyssa Dodson, Delani Curtis, Juliette Austin, Hailey White, Nancy Nunez, Arielle Peraza, and Mariah Winters. 

Crescenta Valley Soccer Club has proven once again that they separate themselves from other Clubs by focusing on its Total Player Development philosophy.  Not only are these young athletes great soccer players, but they are great students as well.  Crescenta Valley Soccer Club helps develop along with their parents, quality people both on and off the field.  Over the past two years, Crescenta Valley Soccer Club has put 18 players into college soccer programs across the country.

At the event, Crescenta Valley Soccer Club had former CVSC alumnus, Michelle Weir from Glendale CA. as this year’s guest speaker.   Michelle currently plays for Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA.  Saint Mary’s is a DIV I. program that plays in the West Coast Conference.
